I'm curious about this interactional expertise, it sounds a lot like what really competent consultant types do (not the stereotypical meme ones). ie being able to understand context from the outside, navigate complex interactions and to then solve problems for clients
Right on the money. Journalists. Anthropologists. Organizational ethnographers. Spies. Peer reviewers. Project managers. We're everyone, and everywhere. Anytime you need to bridge across thought worlds but don't have the deep expertise on the other side, you're relying on it.
